The Return of Change and Other Airline Fees
During the pandemic airlines did anything necessary to make purchasing tickets “safe” by waiving change fees and allowing travelers to cancel flights and receive a refund. Many airlines are now reverting back to pre-pandemic rules by reinstating change fees.
This, so far, only applies to basic-economy tickets which are typically less expensive. This change applies to most major airlines except for JetBlue who has extended their change fee waiver through May 31, 2021.
The good news is that most airlines are saying they are permanently eliminating change fees for higher priced tickets.
