Air New Zealand announced new non-stop service between Auckland and Chicago in association with its joint venture partner United Airlines. In addition, United announced plans to convert its service between Auckland and San Francisco from seasonal to year-round.
Service from Auckland to Chicago will begin on November 30, 2018, while the switch to year-round service for the San Francisco route will start in April 2019.
“We expect the addition of Chicago to our network to be an attractive option for Americans keen to explore New Zealand and Kiwis wanting to visit Chicago or head on to other North American destinations,” said Christopher Luxon, Air New Zealand’s CEO.
Air New Zealand will operate 15 to 16 hour flights to Chicago on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. As part of a codeshare arrangement with United, it will place its code on 100 flights on the Chicago-based carrier, resulting in convenient connections for those arriving from or departing to Auckland.
