Lufthansa Enhances Automatic Check-In Capabilities

Lufthansa has enabled automatic check-in for all domestic flights and many within Europe. Twenty-three hours prior to departure, the airline now sends boarding passes to those passengers who provide personal details in their profiles or Miles & More accounts. Passengers then can use standard check-in services like seat changes and printing out luggage tags. They also can opt out of the service in their profiles. Automatic check-in is available only for flights within the Schengen Area, which includes most of the European Union but not the U.K., Ireland or some Eastern European countries. Last summer, Lufthansa launched automatic check-in for passengers that booked with a unique email address generated by the carrier.
