Alaska Airlines said Wednesday it plans to introduce a new boarding process in July.
Slated to go into effect in July, the new boarding process calls for passengers to board by one of five groups.
The first group will be First Class, namely for those traveling in the first-class cabin. Group A will be for Million Milers and those with Alaska Mileage Plan MVP Gold 75K and MVP Gold elite status. Group B will be for those with Alaska Mileage Plan MVP status and those in Premium Class. Group C will be for passengers seated in the rear half of the aircraft, while Group D will be for those in the front half.
The Seattle-based carrier is redesigning its boarding passes with larger fonts and less information to make the boarding group clearer. In addition, the boarding group will be displayed on the monitor at the gate when the gate agent announces each group.
